Does it work with any WordPress theme?
Yes. Smart Certificate Generator Pro is entirely admin-side and outputs self-contained HTML documents. It has no frontend theme dependencies. The optional verification shortcode works with any theme.
What PHP and WordPress version is required?
PHP 7.4 or higher (8.x recommended) and WordPress 5.5+. The plugin is tested up to the latest WordPress release.
How does certificate verification work?
On activation, the plugin creates a "Certificate Verification" page with the [scg_verify_certificate] shortcode. Each certificate has a unique code and QR code that links to this page. Visitors can type or scan the code to see the recipient's name, course, date, and status (active/expired/revoked).
Can I generate PDFs?
Certificates are generated as HTML files that print perfectly on any browser. For server-side PDF generation, you can install TCPDF, mPDF, or DomPDF via Composer, or use wkhtmltopdf — the plugin detects and uses whichever is available.
Is it GDPR compliant?
Yes. All certificate data is stored in your own WordPress database — nothing is sent to third-party servers except the QR code image request (via qrserver.com), which can be disabled in settings. You control all participant data.
Can I translate the plugin?
Yes. The plugin is fully internationalized with a .pot file included. You can translate it with any standard WordPress translation tool such as Loco Translate or PoEdit.
What happens after 1 year of updates?
